ABOUT ME
My name is Hunter Murray. I am from Lookout Mountain, GA and am a freshman at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. I'm studying philosophy, international affairs, and Chinese. Outside of school and photography, I enjoy baseball, cars, and aviation.
I first became interested in photography when I was in early elementary school, when I would beg my parents and grandparents to allow me to hold their camera. By the time I entered middle school, photography had become one of my favorite hobbies, and I purchased my first camera in 7th grade. I continued photography as a hobby until my freshman year at McCallie, when I entered a photography class taught by Mr. Will Givens and discovered my true passion for capturing beauty with a camera. I learned a great deal about photography, both artistically and technically, from Mr. Givens. I also picked up many valuable life lessons from the wise discussions he challenged me with. It was Mr. Givens who encouraged me to pursue photography further and create a business. I founded Kodiak Photography on January 1, 2020 and have had a blast with it since that day. Kodiak Photography is licensed in the state of Georgia as well as Walker County. I’ve learned how to file and pay taxes, manage a business account, and communicate with clients. I’ve continued my passion for photography as a hobby alongside Kodiak Photography, and have shot a lot of personal projects on 35mm and 120mm film over the past year. I plan to continue using the profits from photography to fund new equipment and to help pay for college. Additionally, I plan to continue serving my Chattanooga and Athens communities by donating my time and skills to eligible nonprofits.
